Nikon FE10

The Nikon FE10 has an incredibly lightweight Zoom-Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.5-4.8 lens. Choose the 35mm wideangle, for example and you're all set to take spectacular landscapes or group portraits. Increase the focal length to the mid-range setting to get a natural-looking perspective for standard compositions. Or zoom all the way to 70mm for beautiful, detailed closeups and portraits.

What's more, since the FE10 uses the legendary Nikon F lens mount, you have access to a wide range of Nikkor lenses for the finest in versatile shooting.

The flexibility doesn't stop there, for with its top shutter speed of 1/2000 sec., the FE10 also gives you the power to freeze fast action or sports subjects in both auto and manual exposure modes.

You're also free to experiment with a full range of shutter speeds starting from 8 sec. in auto mode, or 1 sec. in manual exposure mode. And there's also the "B" (Bulb) setting for long time exposures.

As for exposure options, Automatic Exposure Control allows you to choose the aperture value, while the FE10 automatically selects the most suitable shutter speed. So when you want to take a portrait with a blurred background, for example, just open up the aperture and you've got a shallow depth of field. And by closing down the aperture, you can get both foreground and background subjects in sharp focus. Plus, when you want to change the composition of your photo but no the exposure setting, just press the AE-L (lock) button and you can reframe the shot as you like.

For even more freedom, the FE10 offers Manual Exposure Control. This lets you select both the aperture value and shutter speed, giving you the freedom to shoot photos the way you want. And to help make the most of each shot, the camera offers TTL centre-weighted metering and an LED indicator in the viewfinder that displays the appropriate shutter speed.

To give you that extra photographic edge, included is a Depth-of-field Preview Lever. Press this and you can see the focusing status of your composition (whether the background is blurry or not, for example) before you shoot. This is useful since it shows you the effects different aperture options have on you shots - before you press the shutter release button.

When you want to get even more creative, try the multiple exposure option. As the name implies, this lets you take several exposures on the same frame, so you can construct photos that are humorous, dramatic, artistic and conceptual. There's also an electronic self-timer that lets you put yourself in the pictures to join in on the fun.

You can use a variety of optional Nikon Speedlights to give you the flash illumination required for nighttime portraits, daytime fill-flash compositions for backlit subjects and many more. Choose from Speedlight models such as the SB-26, SB-27 and SB-16B, which automatically control the flash output level through the Speedlight's sensor. In auto exposure mode, flash synchronisation speed is automatically set to 1/90 sec. (X90)
